Getting Out and About in Downtown

Downtown Omaha is full of activity everyday with employees heading to and from work, shoppers seeking that perfect gift, or a hungry patron looking for the best burger.

From public seating to public art, ODID activates those underutilized public spaces and encourages people to get outside and enjoy their city. Have some ideas or thoughts, you can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Events Newsletter

The ODID publishes a weekly online newsletter with news and events happening in Downtown. It goes out to about 80,000 people on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Please sign up here to receive it. See the current newsletter.

Downtown QR Codes

We have distributed postcards to area hotels, Visitor Centers and other high traffic areas that include a QR code that takes them to information such as our weekly events newsletter, digital maps, and other important Downtown information. If you would like some at your business or residence, please reach out to us. QR code takes them here: omahadowntown.org/newsletters

Downtown Welcome Ambassadors

2022 Update: We were unable to hire employees to fill our shifts for this summer program sadly.

The Downtown Welcome Ambassador program is an initiative of the ODID. The popular concierge style program places friendly-faced, uniformed ambassadors on the streets of Downtown Omaha to aid, directions, recommendations and kind greetings to our guests. You can find them primarily at 11th & Howard, so keep your eye out for the Downtown Welcome Ambassadors in their DID logo’d shirts Fridays to Sundays in the summer.
